The National Advisory Committee on Research in the Geological Sciences

T HE National Advisory Committee en Research in the Geological Sciences was set up by the Privy Council of Canada in 1949. It was set up because you, the Geology Division of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, asked that it be set up. The Committee is, therefore, to a considerable degree, your offspring. In the role of good parents you, of the Geological Division of the C.I.M., should be interested in the progress of your progeny. How is the Committee organized? What has it recommended? What has it accomplished? On behalf of the National Advisory Committee, that is what I want to tell you about this afternoon.
