The Rock Burst Problem

CIM Bulletin, 1941

G. B . LANGFORD

ROCK bursts are a phenomenon about which insufficient is known. This statement has a twofold meaning. In the first place, far too many people, both inside and outside of the mining industry, are woefully ignorant of the whole subject, and secondly, as those who are face to face with the problem in the mines realize, our knowledge of rock bursts is inadequate.
