"A Blast from the Past" - The Granduc Tunnel

The Granduc Tunnel was 4.6 by 4.6 metres in cross-section, 16.6km long and advanced over 22.8 metres per day (peak rate - 35m in 24 hours) in a single heading for 54 months, 45 years ago.
The rail-based project used technology such as the Jacob's sliding floor, Conway muckers, a drill jumbo with 6 drills and a cut drill, reverse ventilation, and hot seat shift change. This drive is still the Canadian record holder.
The project will be reviewed in detail to look for techniques that could motivate and assist the present day search for faster advance rates
