This paper describes the recent developments in Canada toward the establishment of a Canadian Centre for Mining Automation and Robotics, at McGill University and Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal. The role of the Mining Association of Canada (MAC) and of the National Advisory Committee on Mining Automation will also be reviewed.
