CIM Bulletin, Vol. 71, No. 791, 1978

Robert J. Shank, Director, Resources and Development Division, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Ottawa, Canada

This paper describes the Federal Government assistance available for northern mining development. The paper commences with a discussion of why the Federal Government should give assistance to northern mining development. It then uses a hypothetical case of a company which has a property it wants to develop to list the sectors within the Federal Government that would have to be consulted in order to obtain federal financial assistance. The paper also outlines the type of information a company must be willing to provide the government in order to qualify for such assistance.
