Alternative technology to decrease the environmental impact of gold milling — a progress report on CANMET research activities in this field

This paper describes some recent research done at CANMET in the areas of ion exchange and AYR (Acidification-Volatilization-Reneutraliwtion), as applied to the recovery of gold and cyanide, respectively. It also discusses the ways in which these two technologies may be combined in order to minimize the environmental impact of gold milling operations and optimize reagent usage.
