Analysis of Uranium Ores by Geiger Methods

CIM Bulletin, 1950

THE STAFF

Determination of uranium in ores may be made by measurement of their radioactivity. The method most commonly used is that of measuring beta radiations with the tray-type beta counter. This will give an accurate uranium determination provided the sample does not contain thorium and that the beta and gamma activities have not been disturbed from their natural state of equilibrium. Such a loss of equilibrium will result from . milling the ore or from the weathering of the surface rock.
