CIM Bulletin, 1960

“POTASH" is a term applied to the compounds of the element potassium (K) and when used in agriculture and industry is expressed in terms of potassium oxide (K20), regardless of the actual composition of the compound. When a chemical analysis is made of a fertilizer, the amount of K is determined and then calculated to the equivalent amount of K20. However, the compound K20 does not exist in nature.
