Geophysics at Sea

CIM Bulletin, 1963

W. M. CAMERON

Geophysical studies have extended seaward in recent years, and t he important discoveries which have been made have led to a better understanding of geological processes. A present source of certain minerals, the sea will eventually serve as an important source of desalinated water. The continental shelves, in particular, represent a potential mineral resource. The expansion of Canadian oceanographic effort that is now underway will eventually lead to the exploitation of the wealth beneath the seas.
