How to use new technologies to improve Advanced Control and Advisory System?

There are still efforts required in mining and metals activities to design accurate and reliable measurements, to improve automation, to apply the basis of Process Control. At beginning of the year 2000 the situation and expectations were not too different with new generations of Advanced Control strategies and Expert Systems.  The conclusion was a mix of huge accomplishments, false starts and major failures. What is the legacy of this era when we are now focused on the industry 4.0 rising slope? Is it a brand new start with different solutions or an opportunity to finish what was begun and never finished? This presentation will depict the situation and will provide guidance on what we can do better and what we will not change with just magic words.
