Industry 4.0 is a framework for the current trend in manufacturing and processing industries featuring the use of increasingly abundant data to inform and automate with cyber physical systems to increase productivity and reduce costs. Spartan Controls will present an overview of the Industry 4.0 concept, and then focus on mineral processing use-cases that utilize intelligent devices, advanced automation, smart connected machinery, integrated systems, integrated operations and analytics. Industry 'buzzwords' such as wireless, automation 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), big data, analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, connected services will be discussed in context of mineral processing applications. The presentation will focus on practical solutions to implement Industry 4.0 to make substantial improvements in the areas of production, reliability, safety, and energy/emissions.
