A full-scale demonstration unit of Tampella's LIFAC desulphur-ization process was tested at SaskPower's Poplar River Power Station Unit No. 1. The test program included a series of parametric tests, followed by a 1500-hour operational evaluation. This paper summarizes the results of the test program, and SaskPower's economic evaluation which led to selection of the LIFAC process for SaskPower's 300 MW Shand power station.
