Mining at Giant Yellowknife

THE GIANT YELLOWKNIFE property is on the west side of Yellowknife bay, Great Slave lake, N.W.T., some 600 air miles north of Edmonton. This paper deals with the underground development and mining of the complex system of orebodies which have produced, in the first fifty-six months of operation (May, 1948, to December, 1952), 652,464 tons of ore with an average grade of 0.80 ounces of gold per ton (1).
