Nuna Logistics in partnership with Immersive Technologies have developed a self-contained equipment training simulator capable of stand-alone operation in arctic conditions. The simulator is installed in a specialized sea container and has, so far, been transported by ship, truck, and Hercules aircraft.
The simulator provides realistic computer simulation of pit operations plus a wide variety of difficult and emergency situations. Tactile feedback is provided by pneumatic console positioning. Detailed reports log the trainee’s performance through test sessions. The trainer may interactively impose difficult situations during the course of the session.
As expected, the simulator has proven invaluable in training novices at our northern operations. Surprisingly, the simulator has also proven highly effective at improving practices of experienced operators.
