Synthesis of straight Y-shaped SiO2 nanorods

2008

Guang Zhu,

A simple method is presented for the synthesis of straight Y-shaped SiO2 nanorods with a diameter of about 200nm with smooth surface. These SiO2 nanorods were synthesized by thermal evaporation method at 1300?. The synthesized samples were characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results suggested that the growth of such SiO2 nanorods may be a result of the fluctuation of external conditions causing a change in the growth direction of SiO2 nanorods developed. The present method can easily be synthesized different structure production for a wide variety of applications.
