CIM Bulletin, 1969

A. ROY MacLEAN, Planning Engineer, DEYCO (Coal Division), Sydney, N.S.

This paper outlines the changes in modern-day coal mining that have been brought about by the increased cost of labour and the use of new and highly efficient equipment. In the latter category are mentioned the rampplate, the Bretby cable carrier, armoured face conveyors and the shearer-loader. Greater productivity and increased safety are emphasized.
