THE MINTO COAL BASIN OF NEW BRUNSWICK

The Minto coal basin lies in the central part of the province of New Brunswick, near the head of Grand Lake. The village of Minto.which is the centre of mining activity of the district, lies about 35 miles east of Fredericton and somewhat greater distances to the north and west of the cities of St. John and Moncton respectively.
