R. P. Douglas At time of writing - Property Superintendent, Wedge Property, The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co. Ltd.

During 1955, Cominco commenced an exploration program in northern New Brunswick; in the following year, what is now the Wedge mine was discovered. The mineralization is mainly pyrite, with associated chalcopyrite and minor amounts of sphalerite and galena. The property was brought into production at 750 tons per day in early 1962. The ore is trucked 10 miles to the Heath Steele concentrator, where a copper concentrate grading about 19.5 per cent is produced and shipped to the Japanese markets through the port of Dalhousie, New Brunswick.
