Description: This presentation provides an overview of the Mining Health, Safety and Prevention Review that was led by the Ontario Ministry of Labour throughout 2014 and in the early part of 2015. It sheds light on the factors that provided the motivation for the Review and provides a high level explanation as to how the Review was executed. It describes the eighteen recommendations that came out of the Review with particular emphasis on those ones that call for changes to existing mining health and safety legislation in Ontario. It includes a brief description of the process for making amendments to the Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. It concludes by providing an update on the status of the progress that has been achieved to-date in implementing the Review recommendations.
