Underground Milling of High-Grade Uranium Ore

2014

This presentation provides the results of a scoping study of underground milling of high-grade uranium ore from mines such as McArthur River and Cigar Lake in northern Saskatchewan. Compared to conventional milling on surface, the underground milling scheme conceptually offers significant cost savings and a lower environmental impact. The presentation describes the underground milling process, shows the plant layout, and gives an assessment of the expected benefits from underground milling.
