Since the first commercial extraction of uranium in the early 1940s, the range of feasible process alternatives has greatly increased. This paper reviews process options to reduce extraction costs, improve efficiencies, effect safer operations, and lessen environmental impacts. Equipment and processes used in the past, in use now, and that could be considered for future use are described.
