Ventilation of Development Headings at the Sullivan Mine

This paper describes t he methods used for the ventilation of raises, sublevels and drawholes at Cominco's Sullivan mine. The problems involved in ventilation during blasting, drilling and scraping operations are first reviewed, and then the air mover, a piece of equipment developed at t he Sullivan mine, is described. The design of this device is discussed, along with the operating procedures used. Some figures are given to show the effectiveness of the method.
