Western Canadian Plains - A New Challenge to Geophysics

CIM Bulletin, 1950

A. F. BECK

Canada has opened up a geological province in Western Canada which offers a new .stimulus to oil exploration geophysics. The problems of instrumental technique, interpretation, and logistics involved in the exploration of this new territory are presented in this paper and some of the efforts being undertaken to overcome them are discussed. The scope of this programme, its possible trend and extent, especially when viewed .against the background of the exploration effort in the United States, is touched upon.
