The paper describes a new type of pump and related apparatus specifically designed to dredge sea-floor minerals from very great depths. The principle of operation of the dredging system is explained, and the factors which determine the equipment size and the power required for varying mining rates and depths of water are discussed. An estimate of the capital and operating cost of a commercial-scale mining system is presented
