Geochemical exploration in areas of shallow till: some case histories

A shallow till sampling program was completed on a 1 km grid over the St. George Batholith in southern New Brunswick. The "B" soil horizon was analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Co, Mo, U and Sb and the heavy minerals from the "C" soil horizon were ing the anomalous metal contents of overburden to their bedrock source. He is presently studying the metallogeny of an area in New Brunswick mapping the alteration halos around a porphyry copper system and determining the relationship of the various styles of mineralization that exist in the region. Mr. Thomas is a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and the Arctic Institute of Canada and a member of the International Glaciological Society, the Canadian Quaternary Association, Ottawa Geotechnical Group, Ottawa Mineral Exploration Group and is a Professional Engineer (Ontario).
