There are natural advantages in Nova Scotia which have made possible, and will continue to make possible, sizeable developments both in petroleum refining and in chemicals. Equally, however, as is the case everywhere, there are certain constraints. For clarity in this presentation, I will state some of these constraints right at the beginning... Petroleum companies all have market forecasts. None ever work out to be perfect, but the trends are relatively predictable and t he orders of magnitude are certainly correct
