The changing role of the Construction Group of the Project Development Division of Placer Dome Inc.

The Construction Group is responsible for the construction of all of Placer DomeÕs major projects and contributes to the development of most major feasibility studies. This group includes an international collection of Placer Dome people who have built mines in Papua New Guinea, Australia, Chile, the United States and Canada. This paper outlines the changing role of the Construction Group from the early days of single projects to today, when several projects are in various phases from feasibility to construction. The projectsÕ total annual budgets have from time to time exceeded one billion dollars.
